heres a shadowing idea i came up with a few years ago + posted on opengl.org, i finally got around to implementing on my gf7900GS. I have noticed some other ppl have started doing similar things in the last couple of years, so I thought i better get coding afore its old. ive had to compromise the quality lots + do things in a roundabout way though since the hardware aint quite capable enuf + also for a simplistic scene its only getting about 30fps @ 640x480. it begs to be made with cell though (4 spe's will enable me to do much much higher quality and also faster to boot, perhaps it will also run on g80 as intended but i havent studied that card enuf)

i notice recently ( in last 5 years ) a lot of films are using john cage sounding music, the current flavor of the day ive always liked his stuff ( except the pretencious X minutes of silence of cource )9 dec 2006
saw 'saw' last night, good film and with a nice twist at the end (nice cause i didnt guess it). the problem with film twists at the end, is if the viewer guesses them early then they detract from the film, eg with 'oldboy' (great film nonetheless) or 'the usual suspects' (average film) the twists were pretty obvious early one which spoils the enjoyment somewhat9 dec 2006
i remember just a few years ago (1999) tech was so different, i was recording music i had a HD of 8mb, lost its contents through customs, the bag it was in dropped on floor when the strap snapped me being my noncelant self. now wow, 100mb HD's + storing stuff on the internet12 dec 2006
WRT the cricket test the dismissal of Murali, was absolutly fucken terrible, kiwi's often take the moral high ground in sport but this was a plain cheap shot, more akin to a typical south african or australian player's action. i could not see Murali doing the opposite12 dec 2006
the best 10 film directors ever, on no order ( months of deliberation, but still i havent choosen the final person/s) takashi miike serge leone peter jackson alfred hitchcock Stanley Kubrick ken russel Terry Gilliam coen bros akira kurosawa ..17 dec 2006
ive seen a few bleatings recently about its a shame that brash has been booted out as he was a true gentleman. after consulting the dictionary i agree he was a gentleman, gentleman - person who thinks theyre better than the average joe, also refers to blacks as niggars/darkies etc, that a woman's place is in the kitchen, typically gets paid far lots for doing little, yep brash is a prime example of a true gentleman. speaking about brash i heard him on the radio a month ago, he was talking about national being the party for the farmers, as they had 6 members who were farmers, including himself he then went on about he was a farmer cause he 'owned' a kiwifruit orchard + he even once helped out pruning, now speaking as a person who has extensively worked on orchards i know what the typical owner defines as 'helping out', going at it hell for leather for 5 minutes showing the workers 'how to do it' (and then buggering off to the house for a cup of tea)17 dec 2006
on the cricket stumping incident, true it was terrible but no way could it be compared to the underarm incident (that was far more unsporting not to mention premeditated), personally i find getting someone out by knocking of the bales if they backup to far ok, after all they are trying to gain an advantage by doing it17 dec 2006
bit pissed off i didnt stick some money on sri lanka to win ( as it looks like they will now do ) the tab odds were nz $1.75 SL $4.75 draw $3.00, before the test i actually favoured SL to win my odds were nz $2.50 SL $1.75 draw $2.50, but i was to lazy to go to the TAB to place the bet, i have s clark for the most wickets by an ozzie though19 dec 2006

been a few praying mantis babies around recently they are the most coolest insect, the body sway + all that, its like the snake charmer, recently read malaysias snake guy has died (i love malaysia ive been there 4 times, its SEA but with sorta western facilities + still cheap ) speaking of snakes, did i tell u the time i picked up a brown snake by the tail in oz a couple of years ago (copied no doubt from steve urwin), for the first 30seconds it was trying to strike me, the air, anything, + then it calmed down + just hung peaceful. i let it go then this crazy korean picked it up ( shit he was a character )19 dec 2006
just watched spielbergs 'munich' hes a great director but he has not made, never ever has he made a great film, his films are always mainly 8-9 outta ten, the reason he hasnt made a great film is cause he doesnt take a chance, mate take a chance make 4/5 piss poor stinkers that go on about some dumb idea, cause sooner or later with such a quality director u have a classic.genius != middle of the road
fast forward to 2005, beethoven's 6th symphony (yeah put it on, spielbery ET naw ill give it a miss)

gaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh, just saw theyre paying india $5.25 to win + betting closes in 5 mins. shit i cant make it, that is defintly worth $100.4 jan 2007
gotta love the opening batsman for india playing in south africa is called jaffee, fuck that must of caused a few difficulties, i can imagine if a horse was called aldolf hitler + it was runnin in germany the commentators, "+ its aldo...rrrrrrr hirrrrarrrr bringing up the rear (oh er)"4 jan 2007
actually cricket is losing it appeal, what team did nz play (twice) last year sri lanka, whos it playing now (coincidently) its sri lanka, + the rumour is next year the summer tour is gonna be by (you guessed it) sri lanka. nz plays on average half the number of games that oz or india plays, how does one become a better guitarist/rugby player etc? ummmmm practice? now playing half the amount as the opposition is not the best method of improving the problem is it all comes down to money, everyone wants to play + see oz (thus they play more games , same with india or england they pay more == more game its the same story with rugby, everyone wants to play nz (so money talks, so each year u have the same shit happening nz vs oz vs wales vs SA vs england vs france ), fuck that like ive said for years, to anyone who will listen the game (also cricket) needs to be expanded, nz should play at least 5 games a year in other countries, romania, USA, japan, fiji (the number one game there + we dont honour them by competing against them, what a f'in joke) who cares if the scores 100-04 jan 2007
a new song, called 'anarchist on a shelf' (not forget like i wrote on the mp3), recorded just with my voice + on my accoustic, hence some of the guitar breaks are pretty strained for volume. still ok (though one blung note u can hear in the main track, done in one take), it does emphasize my way of playing though never on the beat + i especially accent the 1/2 beat before a new bar, dont know why its how ive always played. anticipation perhaps get it here9 jan 2007
Ive come to really love Parsifal, first 50x or so i heard it i didnt like it to much but now, fuck esp the last act, some of the best music ever written16 jan 2007

heres an old song of mine, the last verse was written just before i recorded it though, oddly its the best verse as well. in keeping with the cat stevens tribute, i decided to strum the guitar with a plectrum (normally i just use my fingers), of the recent songs ive recorded im least pleased with this one. get it here30 jan 2007
gonna see if i can compete in the nz weightlifting championships this year in the 94kg class, im gonna have to improve heaps if i wanna be competitive though, honestly ild be wrapped with a top 5 spot in the clean + jerk.2 feb 2007
film reviews of the stuff ive watched in january, rating are based on 50% my opinion + 50% the films quality, eg the brood, my opinion 9, technical 5 = 7| Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events | 7 | well made and acted |
| the brood | 7 | staring on of my favourite actors + mentors oliver reed, shostakovich inspired score from the guy who scored LOTR, good film esp for 70s horror flick |
| wolf creek | 6 | not as good as the hype, got on my nerves a bit (backpackers) the main premise is very plausible for a horror |
| goodfellas | 7 | some bad acting, whilst its a better gangsta movie than the godfather, still nowhere near the best in the genre |
| land of the dead | 4 | a bit stupid, i always thought the living dead series to be overrated, the dawn of the dead remake by zack synder was good though |
| the eye2 | 6 | not as good as the first but still reasonable, improved in the second half |
| projectA part2 | 5 | inferior to the first part (esp missed sammo) |
| walk the line | 8 | too much singing true they were good but after the first 5 songs we sort of knew it |
| kundun | 7 | i was waiting for the dali lama to start talking about 'putting a fuckin hit on mao', but it never happened |
| river queen | 5 | weak story, felt like composed from a series of shots, no fluidy |
| cat on a hot tin roof | 3 | overacting tour de farce |
| sin city | 7 | the most cliched stories + text ive seen for years, well filmed though, hate the ending oh well here comes part two, fuck |
| ladies in lavender | 2 | what was the point of this film, it had nothing to say |
| blade | 7 | good mindless fun |
| batteries not included | 6 | good 1980s family flashback film |
| the brothers grimm | 5 | gilliams worst film, beautiful production though as always with his films, started terrible but improved |
| fear dot com | 6 | very cliched horror but still much better than a lot of ppl make it out to be |
| brokeback mountain | 5 | didnt deserve the best directing oscar, very overrated like some of his other films eg crouching tiger .., eat drink .. |
| ronin | 7 | cliched story + dialog but filmed well, couldnt work out what the car lights meant though in the car chash scenes, obviously a signal to the stuntmen on which way to drive |
| blade2 | 5 | not as good as the first, more hollywood, i noticed cat from red dwarf had a bit part |
| syriana | 3 | yawnfest, ild be pissed off if i paid money to watch it in the cinema, very similar to traffic, perfect example of how to write a script that would get critically lauded by fools |
| picnic at hanging rock | 6 | nice music, + camera work, acting was the weakest link |

good bet today, oz are without ponting, i expect they might try to throw the match.9 feb 2007
terrible that the super14 rugby has started last week (way to early in the middle of summer for fucks sake), it seems a lot of ppl feel the same way, im looking at the buildup to tonights 2nd round match 'S14 rivals already in must-win match' ummm nooo, must win games are at the end of the season when youre a few points off the playoff spots, not in the second week of the competition. personally they should just have a super9, top2 teams from nz,oz,+SA with a team from the pacific islands + argentina + one from japan. now that would be something worth watching,16 feb 2007
im not in the habit of writing songs in dutch, but heres one written tongue in cheek WRT rene frogger, marco bastardo etc. dont know what im doing with the sound, it often sounds like im using a few fx but its basically just straight accoustic guitar (no reverb etc, except the solo) must have something to with my unique guitar style, i rarely just play a single string (even in solos), not to pleased with this song anyways, then again it is a bit of a musical joke so its not to important17 feb 2007
took the poltical compass testheres my results
apparently similar to gandi WTF! dont know how accurate that is, im a bit of a tough person to closet (prolly go under the lable militant anarchist) eg some of my beliefs

- corperations are inheritly evil
- true we're fucking the planet
- im not nationalistic or racist at all
- drugs etc should be legal + available in supermarkets
